I know I have seen links and threads about this in the past, but I can't seem to locate them now.
I would like to put together a VERY complete first aid / medical kit for emergencies. As much as I can piece together halfway economically. Antibiotics, wound treatment, burns, stings, cuts, etc. Could someone please point me in the right direction to a thread or a link or share your own personal kit? Thanks very much! |

The sky's the limit. I've probably overdone my med stuff and underdone my other preps, but am working on balancing. If you send me an email, I could dig around an attach a copy of my ambulance-in-a-bag in progress's Excel spreadsheet. It's over 100 lines and growing. My vehicle first aid kit is a NA Rescue CCRK Squad Kit, including:Shop around on eBay, and occasionally you'll find good deals. Look for "medic kit" and go from there. I got a massive cardboard box stuffed to the gills with well over a thousand dollars of medical gear for just a couple hundred. There's too much to list in my zombie bag at the moment - it's a BlackHawk STOMP II that's stuffed to the gills and still has a "need to add" list. Lots of my personal gear is more advanced than needed by most users - cricothyrotomy kit, IVs, etc. Look at your skills and the skills of others around before going nuts. If you want Gucci stuff, look at http://www.narescue.com. I love their casualty kits and have a couple, but they are very proud of them. Other suppliers to consider are http://www.chinookmed.com/ and http://www.buyemp.com/ For meds, OTC stuff will get you pretty far and also let you avoid any uncomfortable questions if you have controlled substances in a bag. I know this isn't the kind of A-Z list you asked for, but hope it helps as a start. Put together the basic contents of a Combat Lifesaver bag, and you'll be more prepared than most of the population. 1 x Bag (CCRK® Squad) 10 x Black Talon® Nitrile Trauma Gloves (5 pr.) 2 x Nasopharyngeal Airway 28F with Lubricant 1 x Petrolatum Gauze (3 in. x 18 in.) 1 x HyFin® Chest Seal 2 x ARS® Needle Decompression Kit (14 G x 3.25 in.) 2 x C-A-T® (Combat Application Tourniquet®) 4 x ETD™ 6 in. Emergency Trauma Dressing 4 x S-Rolled Gauze™ (4.5 in. x 4.1 yd) 1 x ETD™ Abdominal Emergency Trauma Dressing 2 x SAM® Splint II 2 x NAR Saline Lock Kit 1 x BOA® IV Constricting Band 1 x Trauma Shears (7.25 in.) 1 x Surgical Tape (2 in.) 1 x Combat Casualty Reference Card 2 x Triage Card (NAR T2 Tag®) I added a couple vials of saline to flush the saline locks. Hope this helps as a start. |

Check out some of the kits I sell as a starting point.
http://store.oldgrouch.biz/emsunandge.html My advice is to find a kit that is as close to what you want, be it from me or anyone else, and build on that foundation buying the odds and ends. You will come out cheaper than you will trying to build it from scratch. |
