I saw this, decided it was total fail. If you run a BOV, study vehicle recovery.

Stuck Jeep Cherokee

video link doesn't work.

So, I'll just say I was laughing pretty hard last night at a Grand Cherokee 'stuck'  in the snow...in their driveway!  Stupid moron didn't have it in 4wd.  Back tire just a spinning.  If it wasn't 8 degrees out, and if the guy wasn't such a jack ass, I would have walked over and suggested that he put it in 4wd.

Haha, PA is my home. My relatives in WVA could beat that I'm sure...

And that is why you should always make sure anything you are using for a BOV or any kind of offroading has frame mounted recovery points. I prefer something I can mount a D-ring to.

I can't get the link to work but I am guessing it is the video with a diesel pickup tearing the front axle out of a mired Cherokee?

Rednecks live for this stuff      Thats why you should never sweat getting stuck in a redneck state –––– after our ice storm a few days ago,  i saw all manner of oddball machinery, to include a deuce and a 1/2 roaming the backroads, winches and straps at the ready !    (tongue in cheek response ––- i saw a late model F-350 dually lifted on skinny dually specific 38's mired in a huge drift –– shoulda took a pic –– really did see a  deuce tho)

I got stuck in my driveway this weekend.

The 4x4 Actuator (screws into the front differential) stopped working while I was plowing in the NE snow storm Sat night.  Try pushing a 600lb plow with one rear wheel with traction.  Got it stuck on the side of the driveway but luckily had a Jeep a TJ with working 4x4 to pull it out.  Just tied up the tow hitches with a strap and go.  But I was done plowing for the night!

Luckily the local auto parts store was open on Sunday and had the part I needed for $60 bucks so I could finish plowing that day.

+1

I like how the guy says at the end he doesn't want him to ruin his truck.....

My first thought was.....what could possibly go wrong......and it did go wrong

That video is the epitome of what's going wrong with our country. Five able-bodied kids standing around, and all of them too damned lazy to pick up a shovel. That little GEO could have been completely dug out within five minutes with a modicum of effort.

As my techs like to say at the office, the only thing that we can't fix is stupid.

came upon a guy stuck on the beach a few years ago, had it down to he rear axle with the front wheels in the air....took the spare off my truck, dug out the rear of the vehicle, used
my jack, got the vehicle lifted up, threw some debris under the rear tires and that joker shot out....the guy from "philly" was surprised LOL...silly yankees trucks are for southerns

there are so many ways of getting trucks out without fancy tools....my redneck ass cousin impresses me everytime....

If they pulled it out the same way it went in, it might have come easier.

Sank an f-150 to the front axle about two weeks back. Rocked it back and forth until I realized I wasn't going anywhere. Threw a few bags of feed corn into the ruts behind the front tires and backed out on a ramp made of corn. The best part is a bunch of hogs came sometime after that and pretty much filled my ruts back in rooting for the corn.

I was thinking that, though it looks like they've tried in the full video.

Better yet, don't drive random bog holes on the side of the road. What the hell does it prove? Don't get me wrong I'm all for driving mud on tracks, must be a Jeep thing.

Holy crap, love the guy standing 2 feet from the strap in the full video. Darwin's theory hard at work.
