Examining the Department of Homeland Security's plan in the event of a nuclear attack on Washington D.C., and what will be done during the critical hours in the aftermath. It's not terrible. Flipping between it and House. Coming up, "how do you tell if you're in a high fallout zone?" Checking your survey meter probably won't come up. Starts over at midnight EST, with another showing Sunday evening. |
| It wasn't terrible. Learned a few things, like that there's a government agency or something specifically tasked with determining the fallout pattern from meteorological data after a nuclear event. Saw a few other things that more people could stand to learn, like sheltering in place in the core of a large building. |

That show scared the stuffing out of my wife...good. At one point she asked me if our potassium iodide was up to date Of course it is-who does this woman think she married? Sheesh... Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile x2. Halfway through, my wife turns to me and says, "Baby, put 'buy gas masks' are your to-do list for this week."

Reviews?? Review is buy more ammo, food, water also maybe get some nuke gear! Really they think the terrorist are only going to blow only one city at a time I think there wrong about that also what had not been put in account is the hundreds of sleeping cells here in the U.S right now who is to say the terrorist will not attack with men after the bomb? Just think how much more messed up we would be if we had someone shooting at the firefighters as they go and help people? How much would that screw up the plan? These terrorist are not the type who would not shoot a firefighter, nurse or a rescue worker they would have not problem even shooting a child! They will take full advantage of the bomb so don't be surprised if you start hearing about shooting! |
Top ten populated cities, if a terrorist was going to throw down a nuke, I'm sure they would pick the biggest city. Washington DC was in at number 27.

I thought it was a very good show. No politics just straight information. The reality is that this will happen someday. It's not a matter of if but when. Chances are it will happen in most of us that are here's lifetime. If not it will happen in our children's lifetime.
I thought the part about sheltering in place was interesting. Most people's gut reaction will be to grab as much stuff as possible, hop in the car, and run. They even said if you are separated from other family members that you need to shelter in place wherever you are. Makes me wonder how many schools, etc. have the necessary supplies to shelter all of their students and teachers in place for several days. Definitely reinforces the need to have a minimum of 72 hours (Realistically alot more) of Food and Water available wherever you might possible get stuck at and not just at home. |

Some cities that are higher on that list than DC, like Austin, TX, don't have near the overall population in the Metro Area as DC does. The link below shows the Top 25 Metro Area Populations for cities in the US. Per this list DC is No. 9. But it's obviously a huge political target that would cause a significant amount of psychological damage if it was destroyed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_metropolitan_area#Top_25 |

unfortuneately most of our one time civil defense setups are now gone. Many were sold as surplus or just thrown away.
Many governments like in Sweden, Norway etc, have extensive bunkers, shelters for their population and encourage civil defense measures with their citizenry. If the balloon ever goes up here, your on your own. My thoughts would be to check distance and direction of blast, then the way the wind is blowing and that can give you some idea of the fallout pattern. As they said in the video its Distance, Time of Exposure, and Radioactivity of the source. One thing I didnt like was how they kept harping on terrorists making a real nuke out of stolen uranium, Acheiving critical mass is one of the hardest things to do in the universe, (thank God), elsewise wed have nukes popping everywhere, but otherwise its was ok. I think the biggest thing I got out of it was how unprepared we as a nation are. But then since Ive been doing lots of HazMat, WMD training with the feds thats not been a suprise. Makes you want to get your GHB or BOB updated and ready at all times, thats why I have one in my truck and carry the other. Regards. Scott

I've seen the list below that floats around the Internet. These are supposedly the cities that AQ have at the top of their priority for Suitcase Nukes. These are the reasons I have heard they would like to target these cities. It's very scary to think about this. New York and Washington are the two top targets. I noticed they are spread all over the country too so no one are would be unaffected no matter where a person lives they would feel the impact. For anyone who thinks I might be giving someone an idea. This is not my list. Just do a Google search. This list has been discussed a 100 x over on this site and I've heard Glenn Beck discuss it. It's a scary list. A nightmare we cannot imagine. It scares me because I am living in one of those cities right now. New York - For obvious reasons. Business capital of the world. Most densely populated city in US. Washington D.C. - For obvious reasons. Very densely populated. Miami - Very Densely Populated Downtown Area. Major Seaport for Eastern US. Major Financial and Business Center for Latin America and Southeast. Major Worldwide Tourist Destiantion. Houston - Primary Oil Supply Center for the entire United States. Major Seaport. Heavily populated area. Los Angeles - For obvious reasons. 2nd Largest Metro Area in US. Major West Coast and Asian Business Center. Las Vegas - Major Worldwide Tourist Destination. Other than that this one never made sense to me. Chicago - For obvious reasons. Very Densely Populated. Major Business Hub for US and world. |

I'd put LA third. If they could nuke the actors and actresses we all recognize, that would really hurt the country. The list was in no particular order or priority. That was just what was on the interwebz. I would make a comment about the potential vaporization of people like Sean Penn, Barbara Streisand, Michael Moore, etc. But it would proably end up getting the thread locked and me banned. So I'll keep my thoughts to myself. |
