Is this wheat edible?

I picked it up at the coop for $8.50 a 50# bag. It was listed only as "seed wheat" they didn't know the type.

From the bag it appears to have been grown in AR. I know it is probably not FDA certified but could this wheat be ground up into flour and baked into tasty/edible bread?

dear lord, don't eat that.  around here to preserve grain from pests, people sprinkle Sevin dust as well as rat poison pellets in it.  unless it is from a source you KNOW and trust, DO NOT EAT.

I buy my wheat at the local feed store with no worries.  BUT, since your sack was listed as 'seed wheat', I would agree with FordGuy and stay away from it.  I suppose you could call the toll free number on the sack but, really, just get wheat that is sold as only feed wheat.   It's the same wheat for animal or human consumption.   Our feed store says the wheat we get is triple cleand.  The only drawback is you may not know what wheat variety you're getting.  Buy one sack to begin with and see how it works out.  It'll only be around a $10 experiment.  You can give it to someone with chickens if you don't like it.

Where do you live in Tennessee? I have wheat in bulk bought from a couple of farms in the Benton (near cleaveland) area.
