I live on a lake with fairly clean water. The house has two wells. I also have a hand pump that can be added to one of the wells. In this case, How much should I be concerned with water storage?
Should I set up one large drum? Or more? What sort of unpowered water filter would you use? Is there a DIY way to filter water or is boiling good enough?
Im a newbie to food and water stocking so Im sure this will be the start of many dumb questions.

Boiling is energy intensive. If you want a more permanent DIY water filter then I would look into a Biosand Filter

I'd say, you're in a water shape most of us wish we could be in.

I'd keep enough water on hand to cover short-term power outages or however long it'd take you to install that hand pump.  Most wells require no treatment to drink from them.  If you don't know, contact your county and submit a sample for testing.

Once you know your water quality, the best treatment approach becomes easier.  Boiling, for example, is not going to address a sulfur or iron problem.  Surface water, you can use for watering the plants or flushing the john.

supply shouldn't be a problem for you, but you may want to look at either a berkey or sawyer water filter.  both are unattended and do extremely well purifying the water.
