It seems to be a plaque. Pinching penny's where pennies should not be pinched.
Here is the scoop. There are a couple of people here close that I am supposedly networking with but it seems that they are penny wise to be a pound foolish. I have research HT radios for local comms and what I come up with is the Standard Horizon HX370 with double antennas and ear buds. The range is not what we were hoping they would be, less than 2 miles or even 1 in cases. The one guy wants something with a range of 100 miles (as the US Marines used in leb back in the 80s, which he said was a small unit) and I cannot get it in their heads that this will not happen in the MURS range or the frm range. So, this guy found 10 Motorola FRM radios at the flea market for $20.00, and that is the end of the HX370's. Both other parties are not happy with the price or the range. I cannot get them to understand that every Tom Dick and Harry will be on those crazy things and the range is going to be no better. They refuse to understand that with everyone else on these radios and will know every move we make. So I am thing of just staying on my own. I am about done trying to convince them about anything. I run into the same thing when it comes to water filteration. "Just buy a PUR and hook it to your faucet." Folks this is the big issue that most of us face when it comes to SHTF. Everyone wants input and results but refuse to take the time to educate themselves on issues they may face, think through the senerios or research what they might need. What really kills me is these same people will spend hundreds of dolllars on video game systems and tv's when they already have functioning units, or guns twhen they cannot possibly use them all at one time and will most likely NOT hand them out. I really donot care one bit about the games and such, it is none of my business, but it is the mental thought behind the overall actions that make me wonder. What do you suggest whe running into such issues? How are you handling such things? StagPower |

You cannot convince anyone to think like you, either they do or they don't. I will talk with people, but stop at trying to convince others of anything. The thought processes that exist will be magnified exponentially if things go sideways. If someone doesn't think rationally and logically now, when they have time and resources, there's no way in hell it will suddenly get better under stress. I try to surround myself with people who are of similar thoughts and thought processes, or better - people who know more than I do If they will allow me to stick around and learn. |

At least you now understand how unviable it is to form a group that will stick together without problems during years of hardships.
Trust yourself and some of your extended family, maybe a couple of friends and neighbors if lucky. Other than that, forget about forming a tightly bonded survival group. People will have very different needs/ambitions as the crisis develops. We aren't bees or ants. FerFAL |

Well guys, you are all correct.
My extended family here I do not trust when it comes to shtf. My FIL will turn redcoat in a heartbeat thinking he is saving his own neck. Sad I think this way. My BIL I trust, but while seeing which way things are going, he is doing nothing to prepare. So that ends that. There Is no one else. While these others say that they have my back, the "I" comes into the picture a lot, which tells me "I" will be number one when shtf, to include taking out those who are on the "same side" if it means one more meal. My vehicles are not capable of long distance BO situations right now, as I lost my dually and my expedition, so one of my major preps is a good vehicle that can get us out of the area if need be. There are other arfocmers in the area but they are spread out over 20+ miles and I doubt if that group can get together fast enough if the need arises. Hopefully I am wrong. Anyway, these are some of the things I am thinking through right now -again. StagPower |
