I am doing the best I can with what I got. Its not easy for a college kid living at home with parents who that everything is just going to get worse, but the people who prepare for it are crazy.
I have firearms taken care of, just working on getting some ammo. Figured Id start with the important stuff so I have a few multi-gallon expandable water bladders that I would like to fill and stash away in the crawl space under our stairs. I ultimatly plan to convert this space into a SHTF storage area with food, ammo, water, guns, etc. since the entrance is in the back of our laundry room and no one would think to look there. How would I go about filling these with water for long term storage? Obviously if I just fill em and let em sit they will become moldy. Normally I just read the posts, but I did a quick search and turned up nothing. Thanks guys. |

Also, you may want to rethink the use of those bladder type containers. This might help also: Water Storage Container FAQ Good luck. Merlin |

Water Pretreatment
* Water from a chlorinated municipal water supply does not need further treatment when stored in clean, food-grade containers. * Non-chlorinated water should be treated with bleach. Add 1/8 of a teaspoon (8 drops) of liquid household chlorine bleach (5 to 6% sodium hypochlorite) for every gallon (4 liters) of water. Only household bleach without thickeners, scents, or additives should be used. link this site from the Univ of Nebraska, Lincoln extension confirms the above. |
