New thread, same old topic.   Tried some SPAM from 1989.
Stored outdoors, unheated shed. Taste, texture and appearance indistinuishable from new stock. I would say that spam is forever.
Second reference point, back in the early 70's  myself and a couple other kids were buying Korean war era surplus
C- Rations,  took them to school for lunch,  ate them  "camping" etc.   once in a seldom while we had a bad can, either swelled up, or crap inside  didnt look right.
they were all 20 years old, and   i would say 95 % was edible and in good condition.  No one got sick eating them.

When I was in Boy Scouts in the late 60's early 70's, we had a lot of fun eating Civil Defense C-Rats on camping trips. Our Scoutmaster had tons of them for some reason that esacapes me nonw. They were packed in a white box and sealed with a wax coating or something. I remember the cartons made great fires. A SPAM like meat was in a small can, I guess it was SPAM. Most likely it was 10 years old when we ate it.
