What is the best way, if any, to store some instant mashed potatoes? Options are:

1-leave in original package
2-seal in food grade pail
3-seal in mylar w/oxygen absorbers and or dessicant packs.

Anyone.......
I know it sounds silly but please, useful suggestions.

well it might be overkill, but you surelly can't go wrong with your option #3 stored inside your option #2...

+1

Or vac packed in Foodsaver bags. Or in Mason jars with O2 absorbers.

Regarding Instant potatoes. They all seem to need milk to make. Any brands that just need water added?

If you are storing them in mylar with O2 absorbers why not throw some powdered milk in with them so all you need to add is water. Might take some experimenting to get the mix just right tho.

Eaqual parts water and spuds and 1 cup milk I belive. I've subed powered milk for lquid and could not tell differance. Even made with no milk. Just 50-50 mix. boil 2 cups water add 2 cups spuds. remove from heat stir with fork to fluff, add salt and butter if available...

If sealed and stored as discussed above, what will the shelf life be?
