These popped up on a quick google search. It's not exactly SHTF shelter, but it shows how versatile containers are in construction. The second one also seems to be designed to be eco-friendly without any inconveniences. If you google shipping container home all the links give good examples. The fifth result down shows a great remote application.

I spent 43 days living in a 12 man berthing container from these guys:
hotel in a box Spartan but comfy enough. We also built an empty container up as a workshop at a storage yard. Workbench down one side, shelves in the back. The conex/mil van is a staple of the offshore industry. They're made into living space, storage, labs, workshops, survey shacks, you name it. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination. And their standard 40' x 8' x 8-1/2' ISO standard dimensions. |
