About 25 years I got a bomber pilot's insulated underwear top.  It is a quilted green zip up that I have used as a jacket.  It is very warm for the weight.  It has affectionately become known around the house as "my ugly green jacket".  I have used it for everything from hunting to hiking to auto repair and now it is literally coming apart at the seems.  I have looked at the local surplus stores and searched the web, but I can't find a replacement.  Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks.

picked up one about like you describe from Sportsmans Guide last year.  I believe it was German or Czech.  Two were in the package for about $6.00.

There are lots of puffy quilted synthetic tops out there with all kinds of features.  The ones I'm familiar with are aimed at the ultralight backpacking market segment, and are pricey.  See, e.g. Integral Designs' PQL Jacket

ETA, I just snagged one of these from EMS.

FWIW, some of the workwear places have quilted synthetic jackets for much less.

ETA (again) - Google "Spiewak Thinsulate Liner Jacket"––Looks like they run around $40.

Unfortunately, the tag fell out years ago.  It is a US item, though.  The guy that gave it to me used to fly B-47's and B-52's, so I'm guessing it is an older item.

Thanks for all the help.

I have a few of those buried up.  They are a light sage green color pants and top.

Try this place.  Look around at all their catagories.  I have ordered from them before and was very satisfied.

Is this it?

OST. Might have better luck upgrading to a newer generation of stuff. If you want GI, I've been using some GenII and GenIII ECWCS with great luck. I've gotten some of the SOCOM PCU stuff at the local surplus stores for cheap too, I think a few of the 160th dudes dumped their unaccountable stuff when they got back from Afghanistan. The Level 7 parka lists for 250 from one of the dealers, I paid fifty for mine.

Move up a 1/4 decade.

There is a lot better stuff out there now.
Start with a fleece vest to wear around the house.

Jim and Hal,

Thanks for the help.  That is it.  Unfortunately, I haven't been a 38" chest since the Reagan administration.  I'll keep searching.  Again, thank you so much.

ETA - Found one on Ebay in France.  Checking on the shipping charges.
