I am going to build a BOL in the next few weeks.  I have 36 acres that is about 6 miles outside of the city.  I want to build a cabin but do not know what size to build.  I will have to take everything in by 4 wheelers because of the location.  It will house my wife, my son, and myself.  So I was thinking of going with a 20x20 with a loft in it.  Would that be big enough?

Check out this 20x20 shop I just finished building. It is a garage/shop but it could easily be a cabin at a BOL.

In Kentuckey that would be a good size. In the Western high mountains that would be too big (think heated area). You might try in multiples of 8 feet like 16X24. A lot of material comes in 8 ft lenths and so it reduces waste and the smaller sizes are easier to move. Just a thought. Ken
