Everybody should have at least one of these. 1. Shoping list 2. To-do list 3. Needs list 4. Wish list I'm going thru my stock today, and by the end of the day I will have one for each of these. And something else that I overlooked while stocking up on supplies to get us thru whatever happens.,,,,,,A stock-on-hand list for rotation purposes. Up till now, I have been just doing a mental rotation list of sorts. There is a lot to be said for a hard copy list. It will allow you to make better lists of the subject lists above. As an example: I used a few things from our pantry stocks the other day to make supper. This goes on the shopping list. Last month when the storms caused so much trouble for folks around here, I used some lamp oil, come Coleman fuel for the stove, and some fresh batteries for the flaslights and radios. These go on it as well. Next, the to-do list: Winter is coming soon, and I have a few things to do outside as well as inside, before it gets too cold , and the snow starts flying. This also brings up a thing to be added to the shopping list. Rock salt for melting ice on the driveway. Of course there may be some more things to add as I go along, but you get the idea. The next two lists, kind of play off of each other. You find a need, and it gets kind of put on the wish list, or maybe goes strait to the needs list. It depends on if you have the funds available or not at the moment. Reguardless of that, we still may see a need, and place it on the shopping list. It is a matter of judgement on our part to decide which list that will be used to fit our particular wants or needs at that moment. Some things that we need, as well as things that we wish we had, still go onto that particular list. And as the funds become available, these needs and things we wish for are removed from those lists. As an example: I would like to get a couple more Coleman floresent lanterns, as well as a few replacement bulbs to be used for our emergency lighting needs. I also need to get some lamp wicks as well. The lanterns will go on the wish list, and the wicks will go on the needs list, and then to the shopping list as the funds become available. So, you can see where all of these lists come from, and how they interact with our preparations and our daily routines as we go thru our lives. A couple of other things that you may need to add to your next shopping list.......some pens or pencils, and paper to make the lists. Do you have a set of these lists? Do you re-stock your supplies from one? Do you list them on one? Do you have a list? Before I go, there is one list that I have not touched on, that needs to be addressed. THE MASTER LIST. This is a list that is completely seperate from all other lists. This is the one that should be kept in a fireproof safe with all your most important papers. This list should contain EVERYTHING!!! That's right, EVERYTHING!!! I read a post on another site, about going thru every room in your house, and going thru all your stuff. DO YOU NEED THIS? DO YOU NEED THAT? Make three piles. KEEP...SELL...GIVE TO GOODWILL, SALVATION ARMY, ETC; After reading this one, I thought that this would be a good place to make a list. A list of all your stuff, and I mean ALL your stuff. This does a few things. 1. It lets you know what you have that can be used in an emergency. 2. It lets you know where these things are. 3. It lets you know what needs to be taken from one room to another, for better organization. 4. It shows any gaps or things missing in your prep plans. 5. It removes clutter. 6. By removing things for a yard sale, you get some extra funds to buy needed supplies. 7. While there may be a few more that I did not LIST, the next thing will be a very important reason for doing this particular list. In case of a fire, you will have a detailed list of the contents of your home and GARAGE ( if you have one ) for insurance claims purposes. If you can, photos or a video tape are also a good thing to have to go along with this.hereThese still should have a list that gives contents and amounts, but the list should still remain with the things being stored.here. Well, I need to get on with my cleaning and my lists. If you have a list that I did not mention here, by all means, jump right in and let us all know. WE ARE HERE TO HELP EACH OTHER. RIGHT??? |
