I really like the can dispensers for their efficient use of space. Unfortunately, I realized at some point that they wouldn't work for us. I don't think this affects many people but I'll throw it out there so you guys can make sure you're not in the same boat.

The can dispensers work on the principle that the older stuff goes in first and then comes out first......newer stuff goes on top and comes later. Makes sense and it's a great way to rotate old stuff out first provided you shop in conventional stores where newer goods are continually being on the shelves.

If you shop the discount supermarkets, there's no guarantee that expiration dates proceed in such an orderly fashion: the stuff I buy today may actually expire sooner than the stuff I bought last month. Given this, the can racks won't work well for me. I still like them, but this is something to consider if you shop in non-traditional food outlets.

Oh snap! Why didn't I think of that??

Their webpage gives the dimensions of the various racks, for the various size cans. With some basic sketching, a good table
saw and some plywood, you should be able to knock out a good basic working of this. (Metal would save some space, but I
don't have the cutting or bending capability, so the plywood shoud suffice.)

Whip up a bunch of these racks, and that'd free up a heck of a lot of shelf space for the bulkier or boxed items. Possible to
'camo' it as well, as you could then hang pegboard on the outer studs, and hang items like backpacks, etc. (Good for times
like when the satellite guy needs access to the wiring box, or the furnace technician, and you just don't want anybody to
know abt your preps.)
