I got two McCulloch 1500Q digital inverter generators the other day, I realize these are Chicom knockoffs of the Honda.  They are suppose to be nearly as quite and almost as fuel efficient as the Honda series but at half the cost.  Are these things worth a shit?

Are they two- or four-cycle engines? I've not been impressed with McCulloch two-cycles. I rate them down with Homelite and Poulan-- just above useless junk. However, if it's a four-cycle I'd bet they're buying the whole unit from someone else and just stamping their name on it. That might be a good thing.

Sorry I don't have anything more informative.

Yes, most are ok.

They are re-badged Kipors.

I and a good friend both bought the 2000 watt (1600 continous) inverter model.  They have both been very good.  The only "problem" we've had is that they are hard on the spark plugs.  It seems the plug only lasts about 50 hours or so.  I just keep a bunch around and when it won't start, I put in a fresh plug and it will fire right up.  I also wish the fuel tank was a little larger.  I'm sure the Hondas are better, but at half the price, I am very happy with my McCulloch/Kipor.

www.mmcycle.com sells honda's for about the same price I found the kipor's online. I am soon to buy the honda.

When I was a very small, their chainsaws rocked.  They went downhill quickly in the 1980's.  Please let us know how you make out.
