i was thinking that if i was in the woods, heard that buzzing sound and that thing crested a hill, i'd probably shoot it.  guess i've watched too many low budget b sci-fi movies.

guess i can retire my sherpas and get me few of those things to carry my equipment into the bush.

I vote - weird looking but impressive and somewhat distrubing.  I guess it's because it kind of looks like a headless dog or horse.

why wouldn't that work in a SHTF sit?  obviously it's not going to work in every type of scenario, but i can envision quite a few where it would.

Draws too much fire from trigger-happy Okies . I think it - as usual - depends on the type and degree of SHTF. Since it's pretty much a "normal" combustion engine, there'd be the usual concerns of fuel supply, fuel/hydraulic lines to protect in rough terrain, there's a considerable amount of circuitry as well as temperature controls for those components.... I think if it was strategically protected/armored even as well as an ATV, it would be pretty useful in hauling and construction, possibly even SAR kind of stuff. But it seems like it would be too loud for hunting/patrolling, too sophisticated for ditch-digging, too frail for SkyNet work.

I don't know. Just MHO but I think it's a cool concept that's not ready for prime time just yet.

Mount a litter to the top of it, set the computer and send it home.

Notice who is funding it, the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA).  DARPA, or then the ARPA made the first large purchase of AR-15 rifles that were sent to Vietnam for testing.

Freakish.

If they put armor on that thing to protect it from small arms fire,  then sharks and heights wouldn't be the only two things on my "fears" list.
