It is a great story!  I have read it twice now.  Reads almost like a "here is what you do when TSHTF" manual.

BTW-  I use the frozen two liter bottle thingys all the time in my cooler.  The really will stay frozen for more than 48 hrs.  (lesson learned from the story)

Yea, since when did you get upgraded to full Hack status? Nothing worse than a wannabe hack with delusions of grandeur!

He's a tease too.   All those poor kids out there waiting on a sequel and the writer appears to be out camping all the time with his man purse in tow.

Yeah thanks Hack - stayed up till 3am reading last night - seriously when a book starts making me miss sleep - it is a great book.

I hope this hack will get this story published. I have the PDF, but a hard copy in a nice hard cover is just right for keeping it for my friends and family.

I am actually looking forward to re reading it and I never re read a book.

I just finished Unitended Consequences and it was truely awesome as well. I can't wait to buy the hard cover at the next gun show. Funny, but I would never have bought the book until I read it on line. Now I think its too good to not preserve a copy for my family.

i liked it,,but none of fancy "group" folks had kifaru or molle gear so i knew it was BS from that point on...

j/k great read .........

I loved it the first time I read it.  It is meant to be half entertainment and half a survival 'how to manual'.  It certainly prodded me to stop thinking about prepping and actually start prepping. So for me, it was an invaluable resource.   A lot the prepping in the book happens after TSHTF, but in real life it could only have been done before hand.  It's not bad the first time you read it, but it hurts the re-readably.

Crap.  I just started reading it and now I have to go to work.

Looks like a good story. I just finished reading "The Road", and this one pulled me in faster

david, when is the sequel coming out and what were the responses you got from publishers?  too long?

The one that has shown any interest at all about choked when I told him how long it was.  To be honest, I am looking to get L&F published before I shop LO around anymore.  I think publishers might take it more seriously if I have had a book published already.  Plus, it still needs a ton of work.

I have one more project that I want to finish before I start on LO2.  I hope to post the first of it pretty soon.  Of course lots of things could change those plans.

Thanks for the interest.

+1 on double sided print.   I printed it at work.   Only down side was the pages were too wide to bind.

hopefully some publisher will see the quality in your writing and the popularity of the genre and get the ball rolling for you.  LO would make a good movie - at least it does in my head as i read it.

btw, did you really carry a man-purse and camping none the less?  what's up w/ that?

it would be nice if things didn't always "work out" for the charaters all the time. significant loss and major setbacks with irrecoverable consequeces would add a touch of realism.

but all in all, a fun read.

David, why did you have to go there! I may have a man purse, but I do shoot better (haha).

Did you ever consider doing some of the rewrite things that we spoke about a couple of times... In other words, streamlining the story and making more publishable.. Seriously, and I say this because I think everyone here would agree, LO is a very readable story and it will have its market share.

Ive read many books in similar vein Ive gotten from amazon and LOs is still better than most of them.

On a personal note, did you ever get all moved in?

Lance,

I have worked on some of them, but I am nowhere near finished.  I find that I would much rather write a new story than to edit an old one.  Thanks for the compliment.

Yes, we are moved in now.  Check your IM's.

At the last campout David let us read the first two chapters of his new book. All I can say is that what I read was fantastic. Very well written, easy to read and captivating. I can't wait for more. I never thought a book about bunnies and unicorns would be so cool.
