I was going to order a tritium front sight for my shtf M4gery and was thinking about getting a flash hider as well, I've narrowed it down to a Vortex or a Phantom.

The Phantom looks cool but I want the most flash suppression, any suggestions?

In my non-official shooting at night with friends the vortex performed better than the phantom but the phantom worked very well too.  So personally I'd go vortex for max suppression.

for flash suppression alone the best flash hider is the Smith Enterprises Vortex.

A sound suppressor will also do a great job.

Just FYI, but the US Mil discontinued their original, superior, open-ended, 3-pronged flash suppressors because the open-ended FS units managed to get cught in every damn branch and plant that they were dragged through.

The later, closed-ended A2 FS units, while being marginally less effective than the original units, also had a compensating effect on the muzzle.

In flash tests that I have seen, the GI unit is generally pretty good.

I shortened and threaded my CZ527 in .223. It's dressed with a GI 3 Prong flash hider, when it isn't wearing a Gemtech.

Neat lil sheeple friendly rifle.

I have 2 phantom 5c2s,  They work so well I can not imagine anything better except a can.

You have to really, really work at going wrong with a Phantom or Vortex.

That said, my M14 is getting a 3-prong Blackout to mount a 762sd. I have the parts in hand. Pics will increase when family drama decreases.

I think the vortex has a slight edge on the phantom.
But I went with the phantom for that exact reason. Didn't hurt that it was cheaper, either.

Have to give a thumbs up to the Vortex
