LINK • Cree XLamp® XR-E LED 175 lumens on high • Run time 50 hours on low, 35 hours on high on eight D cell batteries (not included) • Four-position switch - Off/High/Low/Nightlight settings • Durable chrome-plated rhino guard • Cool touch LED keeps lantern cool while running • Weather resistant to withstand the elements • Approximately 15.25" x 9" x 9" • Weighs 3.26 pounds without batteries • Made in China $29 ![]() Anyone have a review on these? |
Well it sure wouldn't cost $30 then ![]() I wish it had a longer run time for the weight of the dang thing. D-cells get heavy very quickly and if they only burn for 50hrs thats not very impressive. I figure if they say 50hrs it's really only 30 of usable light |

I bought a few of these on sale and have been very happy with them. Cabela's LED Lantern Don't leave it on the remote setting for a long time, though. It draws the batteries down even if the light is off. David |

I got some Energizer "weather ready" LED lanterns from wally world for $12 on clearance. 3D batteries, so less weight/bulk. Pretty decent, but not as bright as a real lantern. On the LED mode, they have a 500 hour runtime. IMO that coleman would be way too heavy for any type of bugging out. A good alternative for bugging out would be a weather ready LED flashlight/ area light combo for $13, runs on 4 AA batteries, and runs for 100 hours. With some good lithium batteries it would be even more. |
These lanterns are great, incredible room filling light, |
| If you have a little skill and a cheaper incandescent lantern (or find one at a yard sale) you can convert it to LED for a few pennies. LEDs are far more effecient and cheap to buy on the internet. Here is an instructable you can read for instructions http://www.instructables.com/id/Rayovac-LED-Lantern-Conversion/ |
