I am looking for a backpack that I can use for business and BOB if needed. I travel out of state weekly and have begun to look at a backpack set up vs. the rolling computer bag for sales calls. It seems to be an acceptable trend today in the business sector. Insted of a Taurus or the other laptop friendly bags out their I am looking for somthing that will be able to last in the field and function if put to the test. If I am away from home and need to get back via foot or down size my 22" travel suit case with essentials. I am looking at Blackhawk and Maxpedition but the three day packs are too big and the medic bags too small along with the falcon series. Any suggestions?. I can only go black in color. I am looking to spend between $1-$200

Try these:

The latter looks like the old Payload I have and it is pretty nice.  Both are in your price range.

how big of a bag are you looking for?  I have an older mountain smith bag that is great for having a computer, some books and about days worth of clothes and some other supplies as well.  IIRC it's 1200cubes

I carry a Maxpedition Condor II that i 1/2-ass converted into a laptop bag.  I took some padding out of a free one I got at a conference and put it in the bottom, with a cardboard divider between it and the other junk.  Laptop goes against the back.

It'll only work with a smaller laptop, though (I have a thinkpad X61 tablet, works great).  I think if you had a much bigger machine that it might not fit.  I found mine at a gun show for $60, so I wouldn't pay the list price on website.

It doesn't hold as much as I would like, but it's sufficiently un-tacticool in black that I can carry it around in the corporate culture w/o raising a lot of eyebrows.  I do carry a small screwdriver and static bag to remove the HD from my laptop if SHTF so I can dump the weight of the machine but protect the data.

I would suggest you look at mec.ca (they are the canuck version of REI) for their travel luggage.  Their adventure luggage has the most BOB/luggage/business look and function that I personally have found.  I was at a meeting in Toronto a few years ago and discovered MEC.

I have the Shuttle.  It easily passes as a briefcase, has a decent enough capacity for a 72hour bag if packed carefully with high-end, light gear, and the shoulder straps can be hidden under a panel on the back. I has a padded laptop compartment as well.

I also have their 70L Walkabout travel pack.  Lived for 2 weeks out of one in China and a week in Belize.  Good pack, comfortable suspension, plenty of space. Zip off daypack works as daypack and okay for smallish briefcase, but not as business-like as the Shuttle IMO.

I carry a black Camelbak Motherlode for this purpose.  When I travel on business I am usually flying in a suit and tie, but the Motherlode with a wheeled carryon does not look at all out of place and the pack carries a lot more than a laptop bag or laptop pack.  It's a lot more robust as well.  The only thing I did was stick a carabiner on the top grab handle to make it easier to clip to my roller's handle.  When I fly, I keep my GHB-type stuff in the Motherlode along with the laptop and files/reading material.  Plenty of room, but not an obnoxiously big bag, plus you can cinch it down to make it thinner.  I keep the waistbelt stuffed behind the lumbar pad and stow the chest webbing to make it less 'strappy'.

I carry one from Tactical Tailor.  The 3 day "Enhanced Pack".  Has a separate section for a laptop.  One drawback, no webbing for accessory packs.

I've had it for 3 months and it has performed well.
