Do you CCW to be prepared? I believe that CCW belongs here as anytime a gun is pulled from concealment, pretty much the S has HTF.

How often do you practice as you carry? I'm not talking shooting at the range off sandbags, but wearing and pulling your gear and doing mag changes (you do carry a second mag don't you?) and even using your back up if you carry one; all from their normal canceled positions?

I'm practicing about once a month, but I'm making an effort to increase that to 2-3 times a month.

If you do practice, how do you practice?

Once about every six weeks with my ccw drawing from concealment, dummy rounds, mag changes, shooting while moving, etc.

Almost everytime I shoot, it is in concealed type situations.

I've never shot a handgun from a bench in my life.

Unless I'm testing new loads (or a new pistol) I draw from my CCW rig and do a reload at least once...       Then I put it all away and do it all over again

We have a rural range here, Tombean, and every time I go I draw and practice my retention   engagement. Practice makes perfect.

Once a week, most weeks.  Sometimes I'm forced to skip a couple, but it's at least 2 out of every 3 weeks.  I always practice from the holster, in all manner of situations, and most of the time with a police firearms instructor.  I've shot a handgun from a bench, maybe 3 times in my life.  Shooting at a stationary target is another thing though.  I find that mixing in some two handed bullseye type shooting every now and then helps reinforce trigger pull and sighting fundamentals that can become dull when going for speed in combat type shooting.

For me, it’s about twice a month…. I take advantage of IDPA course around where I live.

Like anything, playing the IDPA game and real live events are a lot different. But, IMHO it does give you practice on drawing your weapon, magazine changes and a lot of different situations.

I go about once a month and practice draw and fire, and mag changes. I have some of the snap caps to work on my mag changes while at home. I have never fired a handgun from a bench, only rifles.

The range I shoot at allows you to carry concealed but you cannot draw from a concealed carry to practice.  Actually, you cannot draw from a holster period.

That is strange!  If you have CCW, the safest way to store it is in it's holster.
Wait, hold on, I think I left my handgun on the bench at the range.

Pistol
I shoot 2 or 3 times a week, 100-200 rounds, in my backyard with my AA 22kit for my G29. Most shots from 15 yards (tarp over the 15yd line so i can shoot in the rain) on 10" sawblades for a satisfying 'clang'. I often use a timer to check my draw and reload times. About once a week, I'll shoot other pistols too. And no, shooting predominatley 22's doesnt affect my ability with 10mm's. Probably because I shoot so much.

Rifle
Probably averages out to 2x per month over the course of a year.

I carry all the time.

i am shooting 15-20 thousands rounds a year. at least once a week. compete in Bullseye (great practice for one hand shooting) and USPSA. I belong to the open range shooting club where I can practice my draw from the holster in non-public hours. Besides I practicing draw and reload at home with dummy rounds.

How many have taken a class from a qualified instructor?

I practice about every 2 months () in the winter, more in the summer.. I shoot IPSC every month in the spring/summer/fall, and practice shooting my ccw every time I go to the range.  like most, I have a number of methods of carry, so I dont always practice each.   I compensate for this by dryfire practice at home, but this is one area I've been meaning to do more of esp since the thread a while back about the ccw class and preparing for any fight not just your imagined fight.

Damn near weekly. I carry to the private range where I normally practice. Once I move into the new house, the practice range is in my backyard.

Well you can practice the mechanics of drawing in your street clothes with cover shirt/jacket right at home if you have to.

unload the gun, fill with snap caps.  draw and shoot in front of the full length mirror.  If you can beat the guy in the mirror you win!  Seriously, practice good technique slowly and add speed slowly.  Develop good habits not poor ones.
