Someone told me the other day lead was really going up recently. Is this true? I have like over 50 lbs of the stuff for sinkers and stuff would it be a good time to cash in?

For years I have scrapped the dead boat batteries from work.  I usually build a stack on a pallet in the back yard.  Then once a year I hump the lot to the scrappers for 2-3FRN's each.    Now people go around looking for them. And pay 7FRN's cash-ola each and wants to pick them up

According to the guy I talked to.  He ships them to Canada.  He also will buy any 3/4ton shitbox pick up truck he can find.  Just so he can hire more search crews.

It's my understanding that all lead bullets come from recycled batteries.  Could be going to the arms industries.

The price you'll get is dependent on what form the lead is in. Chips and powder is 30-40 cents/ pound, auto batteries are something like $5/ per- it all depends on where you go. I don't know what ingots are going for. It is a lot easier to find a place that accepts ingots than dust. Make sure you call first.

i talked to the interstate battery salesman at work and he was saying that junk yards are getting close to 15$ a scrap battery right now. he was buying the scrap yard battery's for 8$ and they dropped him and started using this other buyer that is giving them 15$. i guess that is for pallets and pallets of them.
personally, i get a few here and there and cant get more than 5 from any of the core buyers around me.

catalytic converters... thats a whole other story. that is where the money is. whenever we do any at work (im a mechanic) we wait till we stack up about 5 converters and actually bid them out with the scrap guys. you'd be surprised what you can get for them if you hold out on them guys. they want them so bad they cant see straight.

At the gun show this weekend I stopped by the table I usually buy my lead bullets from.  He used to sell .45ACP 185gr LSWC for $18/500 now they are $26/500.
