I have decided to buy a grain mill for the 35 five gallon buckets of wheat I have.
Mill of choice is the Country living grain mill.
Question is: Where is the cheapest place  to get one? Egay is out.
Thanks for any help.

They seem to run about $350. Google is your friend. Not really, but you know what I mean. :)

Call them factory direct. They sometimes have factory seconds with minor cosmetic blemishes that they will sell for $50-$75 less. Usually it is just an imperfection in the finish.

Hard to get cheap ones. On ebay you can used stuff, but it is a crap shoot and still high price. If the heads are worn on ebay stuff, it cost you lots of money to get new ones. I wrote around and got $15 off of my mill, but 99% of the distributors did not budge on price. Do not remember where I bought it, but write around and ask about sales.

For those of you who have one, how much do you find yourself using them?

I have been thinking one would be great just for fun/educational purposes for the kids.  So that they can actually see where/how we get flour/bread, etc, etc.  I would think you would want to use it regularly so you would know how if something happened.

That's what I did.  Got it for $325, the power bar "free", and the corn/bean auger 1/2 price.  1 small blemish in the pait is all that's wrong w/ it.  YMMV.

I use my CL mill about every other weekend....like my flour fresh! It's alot of fun really. I have several bread machine recipes that take that work out of it. Kneading dough isn't alot of fun. I've done it that way but....the bread machine sure makes life alot easier. With the bread machine I find it only takes me 10-15 minutes to "make" a loaf of bread- it's just measuring out the ingredients and dumping them in the machine if your flour is already ground. The loaves aren't as pretty as pan made but they eat the same!

Anyone can find that kind of time to eat a whole lot better!

I got the country living mill from Pleasant Hill Grain. They, like most everyone else, drop ship it from the mfg.  I also ordered the bean and nut auger when i bought it.  This is the best mill on the market (IMNTBHO)
