What was the name of the online store that a lot of people here had bought generators from? Also has anyone tried running a computer of LCD TV off of a regular generator? I know Honda make a big claim about some of their generators being very good for electronics. |

Wise Sales, via the Hull Truth boating site: www.thehulltruth.com/store/ Give them a call, great fast shipping, awesome price. |

I used Wise Sales direct. www.wisesales.com/EU2000.html Drink the Koolaide. R. |
One HONDA eu2000 Generator with FREE 10ft battery charging cable ($16 value) - $860.99 delivered Is that a good price? |
I paid $800 shipped several years ago, so $860 is not bad at all... Rmpl |
I paid more than that a year ago from Wise, and no free battery cable. So go for it! |
| I purchased a Honda EU2000i from Wise Sales about a year ago. I've used in during 3 power outages so far. I ran a 37" LCD tv, cable box and full fridge/freezer during the day and a small window AC unit, cable box and 27" tube tv at night with it without any problems. The LCD TV's use much less Watts than do tube TV's. not sure about plasma tv's. |
I would hook the LCD tv up to a UPS just in case a spike comes out of the genny. That way you won't fry it if something unexpected happens. Spikes can be caused by motors from fridges etc. cycling on when plugged into the genny. All my electronics are hooked to APC backups. When the well kicks on and off while the house is running on the genny the backups go off because they detect the sudden change in voltage which could damage sensitive electronics |
Correct me if im wrong.. But with the Honda EU generators being "inverter" type you shouldnt get any electrical spikes do you? That is one reason they cost so much more than a regular 'unregulated' gen set.. Brian |
Spikes happen. They originate in *other* electrical equipment. So if all you were doing was running an LCD tv from your Honda genset -- no problems. But, add a 3 or 4 HP surge from a frige or AC unit, all that surge has to go somewhere. When you're hooked up to utilities, you've got miles and miles of distribution cables that will soak up that surge, but when it's just 30 feet of extension cord....Pow! It's got no other place to go but into the other electronics hooked up to that extension cord. |
I've never seen one go bad yet... I know guys who do craft show circuits who run these for hours and hours several days a week and they still have the same EU2000i years later... Rmpl |
Cheaper than I bought last time. I'll have to buy another one. |
