I have a 400 gal water tank under my back deck. It has a cheep pitcher pump ($50.00) that lets me draw water up, worked great...

Been a bought a year, dodn't work so great.

The cup seal looks to be going bad, cheep pos china crap.

Bright side, I can get leather replacements for it and hope to have it back up and running... but.. Dam it's the little things we never think of.

I ordered a set of seals for it, and a back up set.

When I was growing up my Uncle had a pitcher pump. We always left a bucket of water to pour down the well to prime it. The leaters dry out and won't work but a little water swells em and they will work fine after. YMMV Bob

Ya Dog, I did, I got the Cup Seal soaking in water now to see if it comes back. Just an eye opener to go out and my "plan" not working... it actualy dose just have to pump like a mad man, not like it was when new.

I bet it works. We just poured water down the stem and got a beating if we didn't fill the bucket back up after we were through. the pump was only used occasionally because no one lived there but it was the only water on the property.

You should always have at least one extra leather, altho with regular use they do last forever.  Most small hardware stores will stock them.

And yes, always leave at least a couple cups of water left in the pail for repriming the pump!!!!  And dont get caught drinking directly out of the ladle... or at least that was the rule when I was growing up!
