...I must say, that was an excellent book.  I read it for 7 hours straight yesterday.  Just finshed it up, and am fixing to start on Shatter.  That really opened my eyes and got me contemplating some of my stores and what I need to add to my list.  I reccomend this book to anyone and everyone.  This should really be made into a movie, but follow the exact storyline.  I know it would be long, but man it would be worth it.

The title maybe the same, but they are not the same.  We are talking about Deep Winter by Tom Sherry.  This version of Deep Winter is based on real life scenarios.  For instance, Mr. Sherry in real life has a brother that is an alcoholic who really does have a PhD in chemistry.

Can you please do a "cut&paste" so that I can see it?  Here is what I get when I click on the above link to Deep Winter, are you getting something different?  Anybody else having problems accessing Frugal Squirrels website and Deep Winter?

Deep Winter

Part 1

We were asleep when it hit, and didn't really have any warning. It was around 2am when my wife and I both found ourselves tossed out of the bed, she to the west, and rapidly covered in books and clutter from a large bookshelf; me to the east, on top of the dogs' beds. The dogs were howling and trying I suppose, to get out.

The first shock seemed to raise us up out of the bed and shift the bed under us. I know I bounced off of the bed, my wife found herself in mid-dream and in mid-air, and then hit the carpeted floor, grazing the nightstand with her head on the way. The first thing I clearly remember is a noise, then the sound of the large double-hung double-glazed windows in our room exploding from the first wave of the quake. The crack and splitting of our hundred-year-old wood frame house, then the dust and large parts of plaster from the lath-plaster walls then smacked into me as I lay on the floor. Yelling.

Sorry, to be such a pain, I must apologize also.  But there is method to my madness.  I was just trying to understand why you are having such problems, because I though other people maybe having the same problem also, and other people didn't have a problem.  Since you are a member, you can probably plug their "fictional stories" and find it.  I got kicked off of FS a couple of years ago in the mass purge, and I never re-applied.

Oh well, sorry about the hassles. One copy of Deep Winter on the way.

ETA: spikehawk/Warner: I can't seem to find an email address for you. Either post it here(remember people scan this site with bots harvesting email addesses) or IM me..  Got it. I found your email address in another post. One copy on the way.

I thouhgt about your problem, and I think your problem is that you have to delete the cookie that FS writes out.  I think I had that problem once before.  There must a be bug in their code or something.

Debo, John...There's another thread about Deep Winter (now pushed back to page 2 here in the Survival Forum) with some posts from a guy who it seems was nice enough to send out copies of Shatter to people posting in that thread.  I don't know if that's the only thread that may get his attention or if he checks the board at large regularly and will reply, but it's the only idea I have on getting a copy.  I added my own request to that thread last night.  I'm almost finished with Deep Winter myself, and might just have to freak or something if I don't get a copy of Shatter...heheh
