I've heard about Craigslist for years, but only checked it out recently.  It's worth checking out if you haven't been there recently.  You can organize your search by city or state, and there are categories for things like "tools," "general," "household," "farm+garden," "RVs," etc.  It's basically an internet garage sale, with a higher signal-to-noise ratio, and lots of the items have photos.

Just passing this along for anyone who's not aware of it...

Several months back I picked up a Katydyn Pocket filter off of Craigslist for $35.

Have sold some stuff there and purchased some stuff.

Just wish the anti gun nazis would go away though.

I picked up a practically new lawn mower for $15. Wouldn't run so the little lady bought another mower.

Add one new $35 carb and bingo. New perfectly running mower.

I just got my wife a piano off it yesterday. They asked $900- got it for $750.

If you want to get something off your chest go into the rants and raves section.

Try craZEDlist if you'd like to be able to search a bunch of Craigslist sites at the same time.

Lol. All I found was good deals like rusty used lawn mower for $100, "rare" chickens for 50 each and couches that should be at goodwill for $250+. They can keep their hippie website and their crappy wares.

I did well on CL here in tampa area. Picked up a mint 88 yamaha TW200 for 900bux. got it running (spent 200) and sold it for 1800bux. to me that was a deal.

I catch the occasional bargain as well. I recently purchased five 20lb propane tanks off CL from a guy for $20, heck two were about 80% full.

I bought a 10-meter ham radio from a guy on Craigs List, and also sold a scanner on same.  Good site.  Just be careful, like any classified.

There ARE good deals to be had if you know what you're looking for, narrow your search based upon price range, and are PATIENT enough to wait for the good deal to come around...

I got a nice gunsafe of of there for $250 but I had to move it

used to be able to find gun stuff but like said above the gun nazis patrol the site..they even shut down gun safe post now just cause it says "gun" (I had it happen to me)

I got a used lawnmower that was listed for $30 for $10.  It is a year old, had some bad gas in it, and had the deadman's switch installed wrong.  For $2 worth of gas and carb cleaner, I have a mower that runs like new.

The good and bad things about craigslist is that you can post for free.  It is good because you get a lot of traffic and it is free.  IT is bad because a lot of people put overpriced garbage on there to test the waters.

That is the only way to view anything on there.  Thanks

Haven't bought anything off there but have sold quite a bit.  Even got rid of a scrap chain link fence with posts covered in 2 foot of concrete.  Some guy picked them up for free to reuse and build a dog run.  Otherwise it would have cost me $300 for someone to haul them off.

Sold a computer on CL for $200 more then it was worth b/c a guy had been posting a lesser unit for $400 more then it was worth, I split the differance and someone picked it up. I've got no beef with CL, Guns can't be posted, big deal, ask for your money back.

On the free page I scored 8 20 pound propane tanks. all in good condition, and only one needing the new valve.

Freecycle is also a good place to find some items.

I got two cast iron skillets once. A bit rusty, but all surface. I scrubbed them with 0000 steel wool and coated them in bacon greese. Baked them in oven and they are recoated and partially seasoned.
