I'm looking for my next read, and being new to prepping I figured I would ask you guys. What books do you consider as required reading for people new to preparing? Fiction and nonfiction.

+1 for John "Lofty" Wiseman's SAS Survival Manual.  If knew everything in that book and could do every function, you could safely survive just about anywhere with only the slightest of luck.

I thought the book Day of the Triffids(by John Wyndham) illustrated the sheeple attitude better than just about any other book out there. There's more to the book than that, but that's one of the main things I remember from that book, even years after reading it. It's also interesting to see how some people try to save too many people in a disintegrating situation and end up endangering themselves and others by their efforts.
