So my childhood best friend's father just gave me a bow.  Its a traditional recurve.  A 45# Fred Bear Grizzly to be exact. He said it was a classic and to take good care of it. Its nothing big, but it is something to start with, and was a tremendously nice gesture.
I had mentioned to him that I was interested in taking up Archery.  He was very excited as both his son (my childhood best friend) and he are very into traditional archery.  So, I'm gonna start reading around on the stickies.  Anything else I should read?  I am interested in traditional archery, and in particular Longbows and Recurves.
I was burned out on the AR15 and Bullpup forums anyway, so now I y'alls problem.

Done...

Anyone know if there is a way to tell exactly when it was made by this serial number?

I need some new arrows.  I was given some that came with the bow, but was told not to use those since they are the originals and will be destroyed by practice.  I was also given three practice arrows, but have already destroyed 2 of them on the backstop I built...  I need a shooting glove and quiver.  Anything else you guys can think of as essentials?
