How often do you change your bow string?

I am a rookie, but I will say when they have a frayed look or when they stretch, usually measuring your bows ATA will give some indication on stretch.
I am sure someone will come along with a more complete answer.

The last time I changed a bow string...I got out of my truck, drew my bow to check functionality, and the bowstring broke at full draw resulting in a busted nose.  Took the bowshop 2 weeks to replace the string.

The only thing to add is if you somehow cut a strand or two, i.e. bump it with a broadhead.  You really have to change them in a hurry if you have damage like that.

Fuzzy strings and cables bother me, so I change them pretty quick.

Aftermarket strings are available in better quality than many manufacturers use in new bows.

I cut 2 strands last year on something on my last walk out last year. Didn't use it for turkey in the spring. ( got one with a shotgun on day 2 )

Just put a new string on it. Can't wait to hunt with it again.

Any recommendations for a good string. I bought Mathews DXT in 2008 and have shot the hell out of it. It has a little fraying but not much.

My number one choice for strings

If I were you, I would get 452X material for your string and cables.

He also sells a great string wax that's pretty cheap, and he's really reasonable on loop rope and tie in string in whatever colors you want.
