get a cheap kit and a low pundage bow to start to much poundage and you will burry your arrows deep in the mud.  The higher you can get above the water the better, much harder to hit a fish if your feet are at the water line then if you are several feet above.

I've taken a step ladder and used it in a very slow moving river.  It gets you up high enough to make your shots easy.

I've been watching a local creek that has been near flood stage lately, but haven't seen any fish yet.   Still a little early here.  Can't wait to stick some fish though!!!

It's been years.

Toss a 2 liter coke bottle in the yard.  When you can shoot instinctivehttp://www.ar15.com/ly and hit it 8 for 10 from an elevated platform......go have fun.

Bowfishing is just about the most "legal" fun you can have with your clothes on.

+1 on the pawn shop compound, but spend the money on an AMS Retriever Reel. There are cheaper altenatives, but you will end up here anyway, so spend the money now and save yourself some hassle.

Never tie your line to the arrow's tail, use Safety Slides. They will be more accurate, and a hell of a lot safer.

This sport is a slippery slope. Before you know it, you will be shopping for a new boat, generator and lights.

I got an old PSE nova for $25 and put the AMS reel on it. Low dough and works great. My 12 y/o son has a 808 bow fishing reel on his Mathew genesis that also works good but spend the coin and get the AMS.

Some folks use for fertilizer and some just sink them for fishfood in the lakes lol! I guess it depends on where ya live.

pick up an inexpensive bow with low poundage and a good let off..AMS makes a good kit or you can get a muzzy stabalizer mount and an old zebco 808 or the new 888...we shoot mullet and tilapia in some of the local spring fed rivers and creeks..hands down most fun with a bow other than deer hunting!

I've started Bowfishing. I have the Cajun Archery kit on a PSE Mach 10 bow set at minimum poundage. The Sting-a-ree tournament tips are killer.
