Ok. I'll admit I'm totally new to bow's. recently inhearited a long bow, no string. I'm wanting to know what do I need to get a string? Does someone sell bow strings or do you make bow strings? Like I said complete novice.

try www.3riversarchery.com/

length should be written on the bow.

And if not, find a local pro-shop.
Most good shops either make them themselves or have a source to get one made after properly measuring for you.

a HUGE +1 to this... Until you are familiar in what fits you, go to a GOOD pro shop that takes its time to work with you.

Also, within each  pro shop you have good and bad salespeople.. find a guy that is willing to take the time to explain the benefits and disadvantages for what products you need.

BTW... WELCOME to bow hunting!!

And the best part... The ammo... Is reusable!

Also the pro-shop usually will let you watch them and learn  from them. Then they can sell you more tools & equipment you might need. Also if they have a bow club its always fun to join and shoot with them.  The ammo is reusable but also loosable lol.

I make my own Flemish strings.  It's easy once you know how.  Do a search for Flemish strings and you find the information on how to make them.
