Anyone have a recommendation for a site to get quality topo maps from? Just bought some property in NY that is adjacent to a hunting club I belong to and the terrain is supprisingly difficult to navigate and I would like to get my hands on a topo of the area.  Ideally I would like to provide the property boundaries from the survey and have the boundaries marked on the map.  Any suggestions?

You could do worse than the USGS Store.

Green Trails starts with the USGS topos and adds additional content.  I see they cover NY now.

ETA - Forget Green Trails.  The only map they have for NY is for Central Park.

See if your county auditor's site has a property lookup site with tax maps.  Mine has amazing maps with a topo layer you can add.  Owners' names are right on the lots.

Where in NY?

Do you have a handheld GPS? I have a Dakota 20 from Garmin. It's small but the topo is really accurate and helpful.

I think I had to buy the maps package but it's been so long I forgot.

If it's inside of the Adirondacks or Catskills there are likely better maps available that are designed for hikers which cover the state parks.

Mytopo.com makes custom topos. Lots of different options available and I'm pretty sure property boundaries can be printed. I think I paid like $14.95 for a waterproof map of the area I hunt.[sub][/sub]

County extension service, Corp of Engineers if those services are available in your AO.

I buy mine from USGS. I have them laminated but it is a bit pricey.

Get the OnXHunt app. It's great even after the free trial expires. Can even download maps for offline use.
