After many failed or aborted attempts the hawk I've named Carl (from the commercial) killed a bird today. I missed the attack but happened to see it sitting on his kill before he flew away  I throw seed on the hardstand across the road because they make such a mess.  Looked like he had a Starling.  Last year I watched him try to catch a sparrow hiding in a couple small bushes next to the hardstand.  The hawk hopped around on the tops until the sparrow made a break for it into the open yard instead of the trees and brush.  He almost flew into the side of the house chasing his dinner.  Ending up landing and walking around our vehicles looking for the little guy without success.

Most attempts are fruitless, so situation normal for the hawk.

...and I suspect the hawk will get better over time.

These Hawks showed a while back, in my yard.

These may be the same Hawk. Wife went to work one was on gate.
I took picture from house. Did not turn out good. Oh well!
Then as I was leaving, it was back. Ran got camera. It stayed put.
Most pictures I was less then 20 feet from it. (Maybe closer)
Neighbor down the street says there is a pair in our city neighborhood.
Hope to see them again.

Pictures please!
