Does anybody here do it and does anybody on the Georgia, S. Carolina line know of someplace I could go check it out?
I saw a show about it and there was a place in N. California where you could go and take a "course." They had the birds and they taught you the basics. It looked pretty cool.

I was very interested in this right out of high school many years ago. These birds are protected by fedral law, and your state will also have laws to control this. Your best first step is to call your area wildlife resourse agency and ask them who within the agency you need to talk to about this. This may take a few calls to get to the right person, but once you contact the right person, they should be able to tell you what the laws are, and how to get  in contact with the most knolagable people who do this in your area.

As an example. It was been quite awhile, but if I remember correctly, You had to be a apprentice to a experianced Falconer for a length of time. You had to trap your own bird and train it. There was only certain species you could "use" (you dont own the bird, and it needed to be released after a period of time) There is alot that is involved with Falconry, and it is a labor intensive venture. There may be some other routes you can use to get into this, like by "rehabbing" hurt, and injured birds. Again, these are fedraly protected, so there is no "easy way" to go about this. But, if you truely want to invest a large part of yourself into this dont be descuriged by the hoops. It is dificult for the very reason to keep johhny come latley from "messing around" with these awsome creatures.

One thing you might consider first is find a "rehabber" near you, and ask to donate your time to help out with what ever they need.
This will also help you to decide if this is something you really want to invest in. (I dont necessarily mean money by invest)

Good luck
