Who here hunts deer with their AR or AKs. I hunt with a mini 30 but just got an AK 47 and am in the process of putting an AR together in 6.8. I will be hunting with my AK but I'm not sure if the AR will be ready in time.
Thanks

I put down two last season with ARs.  One with a 14.5" Bushmaster.  The other with a 16" Stag.  My brother has put down a couple with his AK.

It was definitely convenient to be able to quickly reload 30 rounds when the deer kept running back and forth .

I have killed two deer with my AR. Both within 150 yds, one shot each using Win. 64 gr. power point. I was using an Eotech at the time.

I'm so jazzed to use my AR for hunting.

I bought a 6.8 a few months ago for this purpose too, but dunno if I'll make it out this year or not. Like you, I'm excited to try it.

I dropped two deer with my Mini years ago (55 grain softpoint) 1 shot kills right in the lungs-heart at under 50 yards. What really inmpressed me was how lethal the .223 is! It scrambled up their innards real good! Exit wounds about the size of a quarter. I'd use my AR anytime, but prefer to hunt with a .243 Model 7...

I'll be using my newly-built .458 SOCOM this coming firearms deer season.

I shot a deer already this year on a crop damage permit with my AR-50.

Does that count?

I've been wanting to do the same with my Barrett. A fellow Arfcommer (who also owns a Barrett) knows someone with deprevation permits, and it'd be great to try 'em out.

I use my DPMS Bull 20 for deer in the orchard cause the ranges are never more than about 140 yds(head shots). These are on nuisance permits.
Use it all the time on 'yotes cause of the fast follow-up if I get a chance at a 2-fer.
Don't use it much in the corn fields. Switch to a DPMS .308.

You people actually hunt with those terrorist rifles!?!?

Me too  That's the plan, anyway...  VA prohibits hunting medium/large game with any caliber less than .23, so I guess I'll hunt deer with an AK

Can't hunt here with rifle for deer BUT I killed 4 coyotes last year with the AR RR predator.  And I think it was 8 ground hogs. And will use it on hogs as soon as I can find a place to hunt them near the state line I guess they have a bunch over there.

It took you 30 rounds to take a Deer?
