I have a load that I started using for 3 gun this last fall.  55 grn hornady FMJ over 25.3 grn of H335.  3 weeks ago it was shooting 1" or less at 100.  today I took the same rifle out to run a few through and I cant hold better than 3" with the same loads.  Chronograph 3 weeks ago showed 2925 FPS.  The only thing that has changed is the outside temp.  It is about 30 deg. warmer now.  Could that be enough to cause the problem?

It could, but generally wouldn't open up that much.

What scope and mount are you using?

Barrel make, twist, and round count on the barrel?

Try reducing your load by .2gr and see if it tightens up in the warmer weather if the load was developed in the colder temps.

And check your glucose levels & switch to H322.

Don't know what's on the end of your barrel, but if you can't see the muzzle clearly pull your muzzle device and get a good look at your barrel's crown.
Won't take much gunk to screw with your accuracy - BTDT.

Explain, please. Do you clean your muzzle?

I don't know about that one. I've shot out a barrel without cleaning the crown under the muzzle device over it's entire life, and it shot till the throat was too eroded.

I shoot a lot of 3 gun and have experienced sudden unexplained loss of accuracy as the OP relates.

My muzzle device has about .200" of gap between the end of the barrel and the first baffle of the brake. No way to see the crown with the brake installed.

Removing the brake let me see how much crap had built up there, cleaning it restored the accuracy to what I expect out of the barrel.

.223 / CFE223 powder / Hornady 55gr FMJBT projectile.

In HP, there's 2 choices. Clean it after every match or two and risk nicking the crown, or leave it be. Most leave it be.

I have two new-to-me service rifles and was told they were rebarreled within the last couple years and not shot much. They each have a cone of crud within the A2 flash hider (maybe from a fair amount of .22) and shoot just fine.

I'm curious if the combo of ball powder and a muzzle brake is what affects precision.
