I just bought a Bell and Carlson Sporter stock for my Savage 111 in .270.  Love it, such an improvement over the horrible stock that comes with it which I never liked.

Here's my issue.  The rear-most hole for the three bolts, the one that holds the back of the trigger guard to the stock, came un-drilled.  It only secures the trigger guard to the stock and does not go so far as to screw into any aluminum or any part of the barrel and trigger assembly for that matter (same on the original stock).

I'm an idiot, didn't slow down and start small, and drilled the hole too big.  I know.    Thoughts on how to refill the hole to redo the screw?

I was thinking epoxy.  I'll note that it doesn't appear the trigger guard would ever need to come off so if the screw needs to be more permanent I could deal with that if needed.

You're not that big of an idiot OP.

I thought that you said Shock Install Screw-up.  Like, on your vehicle....   So in this case, I might have you beat.  Don't be too hard on yourself.  Good luck in fixing your problem.

Op, Google helicoil, it's a screw In steel thread adapter used for just that issue, if you don't want to go that route you can select a bolt of a larger size and re-Tap everything to fit accordingly.

Find out the thread size for the bolt that you want to insert, then search accordingly, example at the following link.

Thanks guys. Ill take a look at helicoil or maybe try larger bolt. Larger bolt first may be the way to go since I can't really make it any worse at this point.

I would just epoxy it then redrill it. I don't even have that rear screw in my mode 10 with the bell and carlson, it's been fine.

I went that route.  After some internet reading i put some JB Weld in there and inserted the frog lube covered screw while it set.  Seems to be just fine!

all that said, would be nice if they had that refined to take a screw since it's not a cheap stock.  damn thing cost the same as the gun cost.

So I read on another forum that savage used different size screws in the pass, so they leave it blank.
