For any Competitive, MIL or LE Shooters who may interested:
http://www.sniperrodeo.com/ "The Sniper Rodeo concept enlists a series of multi day multi-platform competitions, over the duration of a year, culminating in a championship event revealing the “Best Sniper Team”. The rodeo series is conducted in different regions of the country to ensure varied terrain, field craft, and shooters test in each location. While the primary focus will be placed on long precision shooting, there will also be courses of fire throughout to test the teams’ abilities of engagement with their secondary and tertiary weapons systems. This series of competitions will represent the premiere venue for shooters across the country to showcase their skills, to learn new techniques, to share their individual knowledge and preferences with others in the community and to prove who the best sniper team in the Nation is." 2014 is going to be a building year with some trial events. The qualifiers, stage matches, and finale will be in 2015. This has the backing of some top notch folks, and it will hopefully be a good addition to the precision long range shooting circuits. | I realize I'm a little late here, but I had a question. Other than shooting are other skills being tested or involved. I mean things like stalking, land nav, fieldcraft, etc. Also will there be UK ranges as well as KD? |

Make sure that you check the details as they are posted for each event.
As of now, everything that I have seen is all shooting based. Of course that is also dynamic shooting, meaning movement into and out of positions, stress events, etc. Given this is the first time for all of this, there are changes being made pretty frequently on the fly. Turnout has been pretty light so far, it will be interesting to see what the numbers looks like for the events in the first quarter of 2015. Never thought that I would say that the world of tactical matches is getting busy, but there are going to be a lot of matches in 2015. Best of Luck, M Richardson |

there will be a lot of matches, but i don't think that's a problem. plenty of demand for matches.
i would have signed up for the sniper rodeo but everything about it just seems ill-conceived. I'll take your word that they are top notch people, but I just can't even describe how bad the rules and course of fire on their website are. i can't imagine anyone wanting to participate. I hope they have some friends who can give them some constructive advice and get their events off the ground |

Probably going to be some hit & miss action until they get things ironed out.
Looking at someone like Rifles Only, no question that Jacob & Company have their act together, and they would run a quality match. http://www.sniperrodeo.com/new-events/2015/2/13/round-i-texas-stalking Looking at some of the others, I don't have enough personal experience with them, and they don't have an elaborate track record to review, so I can't say for sure? I do know that the organizers are tied in with the major associations like the Army Sniper Assoc and the Nat Tact Off Assoc. Candyss Bryant has been working with the Army Sniper Assoc and the Int Sniper Comp at Ft Benning for many years. I think that it has some good concepts, like planning matches that focus on a specialized skill set, High Angle, Water, Long Range, Close Range Urban. Looking at the 2014 intro events, there is some interest, but I am not honestly sure where it will ultimately go? Hopefully it will be another great addition for precision long range shooting. Thanks, M Richardson |
