Not necessarily a "deal", but I stumbled upon a new vendor - WebstaurantStore Apparently they do $500+ mil in revenue, but I somehow never heard of them. Anyway, I just ordered 400 pounds of long term stuff that I'll mylar and bucket myself. Salt, rolled oats, sugar, green split peas, navy beans, elbow macaroni, and white rice. Total tab with shipping was around $400. I will gladly pay shipping to avoid trips to Costco/Sams/Walmart, etc. Ordering was easy - now its a matter of truckers screwing me up. yes i have the original harvest right machine. the new ones are a lot easier to use. as for a small family, it's just me and the wife. we used it a good bit as we were looking to put back some long storage preps. we now have plenty to take us close to a year depending on how much we eat. infact we made as much as we could easily store. i figure if we had bought the FD foods comparable to what we put back i'd be at least 5x the cost of what i have in the raw foods and machine. i also have better quality food than pretty much any of the over salted crap on the commercial market. i will say this, there IS a learning curve and there is a commitment you need to make to financially make it work. if you just want to put back some rice and beans for a rainy day this isn't your machine. if you want to produce quality long term storage meals or foods in qty.. this is as good as it gets. |
