The one problem is that it doesn't take into account the "contest effect" -- i.e. no matter how bad the numbers look, propagation can be pretty good when there are a lot of stations on the air.
Seriously, even if things do look bad, go ahead and give it a try. Listen for the DX beacons, try the reverse beacons, or just call CQ. You might be pleasantly surprised. |
