I was wondering, has anyone here done research as to what staple foods were grown by those who pioneered their region of the country?

I've read some historical fiction regarding Florida back during the cracker days and it gives good information about how the crackers lived, farmed and grazed cattle on the empty Florida prairie.

But I'm going to need to go back and reread to find out what crops were grown.

Well, the pioneer period for the US has been within the last 300 years for most of the country.

Geez, for Great Britain, you'd almost have to ask what were the pre-history staple foods.
