Someone just gave me a case of these (Southwest Style Chicken with Rice and Beans).  Each meal kit contains 1 pouch of food, a commercial version heater, a pouch of salt water for the heater and a condiments bag.  They've got a date of Sept. 2013 on them.

I think remember a thread on this a while back but couldn't find it.

Has anybody tried these and are they good, mediocre, horrible?

hare toy go

You got em for free, so try one.   When the food is free and I'm hungry that is one thing.  When I'm shopping with my own money I will buy what I like to fit my needs.  Heater Meals score in the "not with my money" category for me.

The ones I had where good but not worth the price you pay for them! Since you got them for free like how I did who cares!! Truth is the Cal count is really low something like 350-450 cal and at about $5 a box it costs almost twice as much as a MRE.

The taste of them where good I have had a lot worse MRE's when I was in the military.

I'd rather eat an MRE and I avoid those like the plauge. I'll eat with my terps or ISF before I'l eat an MRE.
