Can you tell us approximate cost for those flashlights with the most lumens? Also, what is your favorite and why? Yeah no problem.....See Original Post IN RED In no particular order... Pentagon MOLLE....this my favorite in terms of AA lights, it packs every bit of the 40 lumens advertised and versatile light in terms of size and function Surefire G2Z Combatlight......this is my favorite EDC light and it goes out on the street and to bed with me kinda pricey but it is a Surefire Surefire M2.............this is my favorite Surefire and with the upgrades I made to it is increasingly becoming my #1 favorite in terms of size and functionality. I opted for the single mode lamp module upgrade in lieu of multi-mode. The clicky tail cap upgrade I prefer over the SF tail cap in terms of functionality. It can still be used for momentary pulses and easily turned ON without twisting the cap down which usually requires 2 hands. The upgraded CREE LED Module, 350 lumens, is very bright and in terms of brightness and size considered is probably my favorite hand held light. Again, its a SF so very pricey and the upgrades didn't help. I did not price out the battery upgrade but will discuss later. This light is increasingly become my favorite again but the price point really is hard buy for a lot of folks out there. Ultra Fire MCU WF 1000...........this was an impulse buy from my favorite light store ( Lighthound ...Pearland, Texas). With brightness being the main factor....this is my favorite. It packs a hell of a lot of lumens (1,000 on bright mode) and has a multi mode light module (hi / med / low / strobe ). The strobe is my least favorite thing about the module. I cannot really see the use for a civilian except for side of the road changing a tire and want to draw attention. The main drawback was that this light requires a proprietary battery (read: no off shelf batteries). They were approx. $13 dollars each and it takes (2) batteries. More on batteries and charger later. The size is not bad for 1,000 lumens and the construction is solid. I DO NOT like the serrated tail cap but can live with it. Mag Lite 3 C - w/ LED upgrade................what more can I say. This is my favorite TRUCK light. In terms of versatility its just an all around great light. The beam is adjustable, solid head knocker construction, off the shelf C sized batteries and price point are the highlights. Petzel Tactikka XP.............my favorite and only headlamp. Versatile, small, has multiple lenses and takes OTC batteries. Surefire G2.........this is probably the most under-rated light on the market. If I had to take only one of the above it would probably be this one. All things considered....price point, battery type, size, versatility, brightness. It is presently mounted on my GO TO rifle via Vikings Tactical plastic rail mount. These two pieces make up a great combo. This light has been on the market for awhile and alike other developments out there we all know....can't be improved on much. This is probably Surefires least expensive offering and beats out most of their other lights as well as other manuf. It can also take the rechargable 17670 rechargable Lithium Ion Battery. |

As mentioned in the above postings is the rechargable batteries and charger. I purchased the Ultra Fire Light which required the proprietary 18650 Li-Ion Battery. And the Ultra Fire charger was clearly necessary to recharge them. The price on the batteries were approx. $17 each. They were the more expensive batteries that they (Lighthound) had to offer. They are protected circuit batteries that will NOT overcharge and will NOT drain completely out (hence the cost). The charger set me back approx $17 bucks and I opted for the car charger cord as an extra. This means I can charge the batteries both at home and on the road. The 17670 batteries are also in the same price range and also protected circuit batteries. One of these batteries will fit in place of (2) x 123A Lithium batteries (end to end). I have (2) of these and (3) Surefire Flashlights but I usually run a couple 123A's on my G2 w/ back ups. I would definitely recommend the Li-Ion Rechargables in terms of cost and versatility. You get about the same amount of usage as a couple 123A's and can charge them over and over. I hope this helps.
Lastly be careful of the Lighthound, they are my favorite light store but you can end up dumping some money in there. |

Most of my single cell collection. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i307/batmanacw/gear/Picture118.jpg I need to do a multi cell light picture. This one is missing quite a few of them and has some of the single cell lights in it. It doesn't even have my Fenix TK40 in it! http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i307/batmanacw/DSCN0820.jpg |
