with the Cree upgrade. Damn thing is as bright as the sun and will blind someone without a problem.

Would like to find something a little bit more carry friendly (the G2 lacks a clip and is a little large) and still get about the same output.

I don't carry one daily, but my chosen light for National Guard activities/other stuff is the Streamlight Nigth Com:

It has three settings: bright red LEDs, dim red LED, and normal white xenon bulb. Also comes with green if you prefer.

Carried a G2 for years.

Just bought a Fenix L1T V2.0 as a replacement and love it.

Works fine, reliable, bright, decent battery life.

2 surefire 6Ps one for work, one for home. I would like to upgrade to a surefire LED model soon but they are definitely not cheap, have to think about long term value.

Surefire L1 Cree LED

10 Lumens on low for 16 hours

65 Lumens on high for 1.5 hours

10 Lumens addresses 80% of my needs, with 65 Lumens addressing much of the rest.

I'd still like a 1-2 Lumen option though.

Where is the best place to buy the Cree upgrade? First I have heard of it.

+1 Where do you get them? I did not see them on Brightflashlights page in the Industry forum.

I've got a mini mag in my B.O.B. and another in my truck. Just ordered one of these from streamlight-flashlights.com so I'll soon see how well that works. I also ordered the pressure switch accessory for this light.

Fenix P1D

Fenix P2D CE presently but I see another Fenix product, the L1T V2.0, on the near horizon. The P2D CE is a real powerhouse for it's size but the need for CR123's leaves me concerned for "in a pinch" situations. The L1T V2.0 uses the most common battery available, AA. It also dispenses with what are in my opinion needless gimmick modes and provides true waterproofing vs. just "dunkable."

It is a great light.

Also, consider getting the L2T V2.0 with an L1T tube. For the times when you want greater light capability you can switch to 2 AAs and get 140 lumens (if I recall correctly).

I have a huntlight at work. 150 lumens with one rechargable 18650 battery.

At home I have a tiablo A9. 250 lumens with one rechargable 18650. Both lights use the CR123 or 18650.

Get yourself a G2 or a 6P --->

then get this CREE LED Drop in upgrade:
www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1447

these rechargeable CR123A batteries:
www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.722

and this charger:
www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.936

Thank me later.

ETA:

The output you get from the upgraded G2 is insane. A flash in your eyes and you will be seeing spots and circles for hours. Battery life is pretty short, maybe an hour with full output with another hour after that of reduced output. I believe the lamp is digitally controlled so you get pretty even output through the life of your batteries.
