snook, ask that on the competition forum. You'll get some good responses. I shoot reduced course, almost exclusive at 100 yards, so I am at a disadvantage to answer your good question. I zero at 100 yards, but leave 3 clicks above bottom. I don't know why, I just like the extra there, (maybe waiting to shoot in a hurricane)
I once shot a range across the coast, and was told go up 42 clicks for 600. It got me on the target, but was the only time I've ever shot at that distance. I use 1/4 clicks, too, and your sight may be way different. I use 1/4 X 1/4 because of the reduced course, again, different from what your situation seems to be.
You should not have to adjust your front sight once zeroed, though. What sights do you have? Mine have no markings for yardage other than what I have added
