Ruby Ridge Snipers Defend Their Actions in Front of Senate Panel By Ronald J. Ostrow Los Angeles Times WASHINGTON FBI snipers Thursday defended their actions at the 1992 Ruby Ridge siege where a white separatist's wife was killed, contending that danger to an FBI observation helicopter from armed men outside the separatist's cabin justified opening fire. But skeptical senators questioned whether permissive shoot-to-kill orders and exaggerated information about the threat of Randy Weaver led to an overreaction. Dale R. Monroe, the partner of FBI hostage rescue team leader Lon Horiuchi - who fired the fatal shot - said he was preparing to fire but didn't only because Horiuchi fired first. Horiuchi invoked his Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination Tuesday after the Senate Judiciary subcommittee on terrorism refused to give him limited immunity from prosecution. The Senate panel is trying to determine what took place at Ruby Ridge on Aug. 21-22, 1992, when deputy U.S. marshals seeking to arrest Weaver led to a confrontation in which deputy marshal William E. Degan and Weaver's 14-year-old son, Sammy, were killed. The FBI's hostage rescue team then was called in, and Weaver's wife, Vicki, standing behind a cabin door, was killed by a shot that Horiuchi has testified previously that he fired at one of the men running to the cabin. To some government critics, Ruby Ridge has become a symbol of law enforcement excesses. But Monroe seemed to speak for his colleagues when he opened his testimony challenging the label of "trained killers" given to the team last week by Randy Weaver's lawyer Gerry Spence. "We are trained to save lives," Monroe said, noting that Congress commended the unit for its rescue of hostages without firing a shot at the 1991 Talladega, Ala., federal prison riot. "The trained killer accusation is unfair to all dedicated agents and to the widow of U.S. Marshal William Degan," Monroe said. |

Not just no, but hell no... from a longtime customer of your products and I have sold most of them now. The others are in a box that will either be sold or destroyed. When you have to pick a side, you pick those who believe in America like you do. I choose no to you and your products. Never, again.

......sigh good thing I sold my Troy sights before this happened.

I have bought Troy products in the past but I am done with them. I hope you have plenty of military sells to keep you open.

I appreciate having the opportunity to speak to members of this forum. Troy Asymmetric, part of the “World of Troy,” is a business entity with a director who until this past week, held exclusive hiring authority. I am its owner, it bears my name and as we have witnessed in recent days, effects public opinion of all Troy divisions. Earlier this week, I terminated an instructor who did not support the Second Amendment as ardently as I and members of the community do. Troy Asymmetric provides training to military and law enforcement personnel. If you spend 5 seconds on the website you’ll see a graphical depiction of a bomb explosion - the primary focus of the company. Take a moment to read the course list and you’ll note a common theme: training pertaining to explosions, bomb threats, post-blast crime scenes, incident command and crisis management. Instructors’ primary areas of expertise lie in the “bomb world,” with EOD experience, critical incident response, and tactical decision making. Some posters on the forum have said we only train “Jack Booted Thugs” and there is a secret agenda. These same posters conveniently ignore Troy Prepared: www.troyprepared.com. Troy Asymmetric to this date has offered no firearms training for Gov’t and LE, but in comparison, Troy Prepared has always offered firearms training to qualified civilians. From a factual, non-emotional context, it is impossible to draw the conclusion that we somehow do not support the Second Amendment and are only training “secret army”. On August 22, 1992, Dale was an HRT Operator tasked to a mission in which he found himself facing armed adversaries. His thoughts were not only on the situation at hand, but the tragic death of a child and a U.S. Marshal. During this type of confrontation when people die, you don’t have the ability to pick sides, they are drawn before you arrive. Dale did what he was trained to do as a sniper / observer. He was fortunate not to have to take a life at this engagement. Special Agent Horiuchi made the regrettable shot, a mistake for which he will never be forgiven. Of the FBI Agents assigned to the Ruby Ridge tragedy, Dale has been one of the most outspoken. He has delivered dozens of presentations to more than 1000 civilians titled “Mistakes and Lessons of Ruby Ridge”. I weighed carefully the decision whether or not to retain Dale and could find no ethical or moral reason to remove him. Dale has not committed a criminal act, he answered all questions honestly, he did not cover anything up and he did not shoot anyone at Ruby Ridge. Dale was asked to join TA for his critical incident management expertise. Dale was never slated by TA for firearms instruction. We all know from our biggest failures come the greatest lessons in life. Providing training that is relevant with experienced, qualified instructors can prevent a tragedy like Ruby Ridge. Dale will be able to deliver this powerful message and lessons learned in crisis management and incident command. I am driven and passionate about bringing effective change through pertinent training and speakers that have lived through these nightmares. Many times I have seen posts in forums that state “if you weren’t there then SDASTFU”, with that same school of thought, there is no one better than Dale to speak about tragedies like Ruby Ridge. I have been a longtime and outspoken supporter of the Second Amendment. I always choose to do what’s right, even if my stance goes against others opinion. I will not throw this man to the wolves as he has demonstrated throughout his life high integrity and honor. I know most of those who would disagree are using this forum to voice your anger towards the United States Government. In some cases that anger is justified. The Ruby Ridge tragedy and the loss of life there make no bigger example of abuse of power and Government gone wrong. However, I disagree with your personal attacks on my family and company as we are not the Government and we are not training “Jack Booted Thugs”. I am a patriot and I swore to uphold and defend the Constitution of The United States, all of it. Those who have taken that same oath recognize the importance of keeping it. Thank you. -Steve Troy View Quote With all due respect Mr. Troy, my experience with your products & customer service has been beyond fantastic. So much so that I actually felt I owed you more purchases of your products. Case in point: a few years ago I purchased a Ruger SR556 that came with the Ruger branded Troy BUIS. I called up your company and asked how much to get the HK front post replaced with the winged front post & for the tritium bits, guy quoted me couple hundred bucks - I sent my parts in, they were promptly returned just as I'd hoped but I wasn't billed. I called up to pay and was told "don't sweat it"! How's that for awesome? After the Dick's fiasco I'd been chomping at the bit to find one of your carbine's for sale to purchase because 1) it appeared to be an excellent rifle, and 2) I felt a certain debt needed to be neutralized, and 3) I felt you were royally screwed over and I wanted to show support the only way I could: with my hard earned $$$... However, as a civilian with a particular mindset (pro liberty, anti excessive gov't overreach in all manners) I buy rifles, training, ammo, components etc so as to be as prepared as I possibly can be to at least have a chance against JACK BOOTED THUGS (who are just following orders) who might decide my meager daily activities equal some sort of foul play in some bafoon's fantasy land. Shooting, hunting, self defense, family defense, camping, work, loving my family are my pursuits. I do not commit crimes. I do not incite violence. I do not hope for shtf or zombie apocalypse. If a civilian were to assist another civilian in the killing of yet a third civilian - and then defended his actions under oath: HE'S AN ACCOMPLICE! And a guilty one at that. I have a 7 week old daughter at home and the thought of her being held in her mothers arms while her mother is murdered by gov't people makes me absolutely sick to my stomach, gut wrenchingly so! In 1992 I was 15 years old and still remember this event. I've studied as much publicly available information as I can find regarding Ruby Ridge in recent weeks and am even more aghast at what took place. The killings, the taunting and even the events that precipitated this tragedy. I just can't fathom how you can reconcile the superb customer service you are responsible for, the suberb products you are responsible for - and the employment of a confessed accomplice to murder. Friend or not, I just can't wrap my arms around this. I recently returned to Brownell's a Troy Delta Rail, I ate the upcharge and bought a Daniel Defense FSB RIS II. I recently found a Troy Carbine at the local Sportsmans Warehouse for $1,300.00...this is where it will remain as it relates to my wallet. My brother-in-law bought my Ruger last year. I extolled the virtues of the aforementioned sights. Until recently he was blissfully ignorant as to the direction your company is apparently going. At great cost to him he's replacing the sights & working on a solution for replacing the OE supplied Troy rail. "Just following orders" has caused the death of millions upon millions of innocent people and at this point it seems you're now Lon H's Dale Monroe given your continued support. I refuse to participate. Ask yourself, would you have hired Dale Monroe if he'd been next to the man who murdered your wife? |

^^ THAT. Right there, was very well said. And I believe Troy just does not get it.

I'm sensing a merger between Troy and SEI if they decide not to change their ways!

Last of my Troy items are gone. As a 16 year member of the military and the current position I hold I have the opportunity to influence literally hundreds of people in their firearm choices. I'm considered the "go-to" guy in this area and I have dozens of questions every week from noobs who are making their purchases and doing builds. They look at my gear and experience and buy / build a lot of times based on my advice. On top of that, this is a small military supporting town and I'm very familiar with all the stores that sell firearms and components. You better believe I am telling everyone I know to avoid Troy at all costs!
I'm doing my best to have my drop in the bucket have lasting ripples. BigBrakes76 |

What in the mother of fuck is this bullshit? I had faith in Troy Industries and they pull this bullshit. Unfucking believable. Troy Industries siding with the devil. Someone needs to link Steve Troy's statement to whole world wide web and let it spread like wildfire. This is bullshit. I was a proud supporter of Troy Industries and own several of their products. Now the name and product mean nothing to me. Why hasn't anyone from Troy Industries respond to this thread?

I am sure glad I found this thread BEFORE I placed the order I was getting ready to place because the whole reason I was searching through the Troy Ind. threads is because I am outfitting 3 new ARs with all the goodies and had a LONG LIST of Troy parts on my list! I AM THROWING THAT LIST IN THE GARBAGE AND STARTING OVER NOW!!
I am just glad there are some other manufacturers out there of quality products I can use instead of Troy Ind parts WHO REALLY ARE TRUE PATRIOTS!!! Looks like you might have shit in your own nest on this one Mr. Troy!! Might wanna think about a career change...IN ANOTHER COUNTRY!! |

My brand new SPR and all future rifles will be getting some nice MBUS pro sights.

Damn, just came into Troy's forums to maybe get a look at a few pics of the carbine VTAC delta rail and found this shit storm. I'll pass, off to DD's forums.

Mr. Troy:
I have only ever bought a few items you make, but always held your company's products and design direction in high regard-I would have actually bought one of your 16" carbines had they been available after Sandy Hook, but with the market the way it is I had to put it on the back burner until I could find one. Maybe you weren't the one who hired Dale directly, so I can forgive you if you either did not know he was hired or was present Ruby Ridge but you have to understand that to people who know what happened the day Vickie Weaver was shot, what happened before and what happened afterwards are so completely anathema to what is acceptable to a freedom loving American that there can be no excuse for anyone who participated to be given later employment as a consultant. All men and women experience Character challenges on a daily basis. The people who participate in LE events like Ruby Ridge and Waco allow their paychecks and retirements to dictate their morality. Nobody who was part of the raid planning and beleives in Freedom and the Constitution could have stayed on the raid in good conscience. These men don't kill to save lives.... they kill for their dinner, they kill for a paycheck, they kill for the power. You can either choose to defend that, or reject it. And that starts with firing the persons responsible for hiring him. If that's not possible because of something like a controlling interest in the company, it's time to buy them out and move on. The one thrown to the wolves in this was Randy Weaver. Everyone else CHOSE to be there and CHOSE to obey unconstitutional ROE. No quarter will be given in the eye of the gun owning public. Pick a side. |

I wasn't aware of all of this until about 30 minutes ago. I'm glad I found it when I did as I have been looking at rails recently and had decided on a Troy. Not anymore. I'll be ordering a Midwest Industries rail this week.

their rails suck anyways. kac is so much better. its as simple as holding the two up to each other and looking at them. plus the heat shield in the kac rai is icing on the cake.

My buddy sent me this thread. Shocked. Had to think about it a day or two.
The ROE's were wrong. They new it. They broke what they were supposed to defend. Guilty. The Chicago cop...to hire him in the first place...are you fucking kidding me? I confess myself disgusted and done with Troy. |

I have only been involved with ARs for a little over a year and hadn't bought any Troy products yet. I do, though, have a "wish list" and several Troy products were on it. Now that I know the truth about Troy, their products are no longer on my list and will never deface one of my firearms. That's one thing I love about America, consumers can vote with their pocketbook.
On a personal note to Steve Troy, why haven't you made any more statements since your original? Are you afraid that you haven't fully recovered from foot-in-mouth disease? Really, I and a lot of other people would like to get your current take on all this. |
|
I have been looking at troy products for my current build. Even after hearing all manner of hate for troy as a company. Until 30 minutes ago I did not know where the unfavorable opinions were coming from. Now I know and feel said negative opinions are understandable and wholy justified. Enjoybthe bed you have made for yourself.

Any response MR. Troy I am very curious to see what your thoughts are. I do not see how you could make a decision to hire someone like this. Thanks guys for the heads up I was looking through this section for some info on some rails for my rifles. Those MI ssg2 rails are looking even better now. After standing up for someone like that I would have a hard time sleeping at night after I did some reading on it. WTF Unbelievable
AND THIS TO http://www.gunssavelife.com/?p=8842 HAHA This is icing on the cake I am ashamed can we get these guys removed from the site? |

Crap, and I was just going to buy another alpha rail.
Wake up Troy.

Looked at an alpha rail at the gun shop. Light, robust, cool looking, opted for something else. not because of politics, but I couldn't afford a $200 rail.

all Troy sights, forends and mags were removed from our gun shop. we have a pretty good sized customer base and steer them to this and other threads so they'll know not to use Troy products. I'm sure other shops/people will follow suit.

I was on the forum to see if Troy was going to have any Black Friday sales and after reading 6 pages of this, I have decided to spend my $ elsewhere.
We are blessed having so many companies who make great products who do not support tyranny. I am going to send a text to all my shooting buddies who may be looking at Troy products and link to this thread. |
|
I dropped in to see if Troy had issued any further press releases.
Seems as though they haven't. And it also looks like a frickin' ghost town in here. Good. You guys deserve what you've earned. |

Got my Troy Industries Black Friday email. Two years ago I hit that sale hard to build my competition AR. This year I came here to see if this position had been updated. I have two AR shooters on my Christmas list. No update, still supporting someone openly supporting murder of American citizens. Both AR shooters will be getting Christmas gifts from other companies. Thanks for making my shopping choices easier.

Why does Troy still have an industry account?
A stab in the back of the very community that made them successful shouldn't be repaid by allowing them to continue as an industry partner IMO. |

I just bought $1000 worth of stuff from one their freedom loving competitors. It's not much impact to their business but I do what I can. I also tell everyone I discuss ARs with.

Verily I say unto you "I will NEVER buy anything this company puts out, ever again." This includes on the off chance they get rid of the guy in question. Troy's Trojan horse seems to be filled with anti 2nd amendment types and JBTs, the hiring of these two types tells me all I need to know, now and in the future. |

Why does Troy still have an industry account? A stab in the back of the very community that made them successful shouldn't be repaid by allowing them to continue as an industry partner IMO. View Quote $$$ Troy sponsored GUNSTRUCTION and I'm sure being an Industry Partner isn't cheap. |

He's an expert at killing innocent unarmed women, from a distance, not hiring EOD. find a vet that just got out, not this disgrace.

I appreciate your thoughts on this controversy, but after review of public statements and video made by Mr. Monroe there is no way to support that he demonstrates "high integrity and honor" in any way. A man of high integrity and honor would have refused obviously unlawful ROE instead of forming up on the blue wall against women and children. At a minimum, he would have spoken out against them when they were found to be so wrong after the fact. Instead, he dug in and based on what I have seen is unashamed of his actions and those of his team to this day. I understand from your post that he is your friend and you are loyal to him. You have chosen your friend over your customers and it is your choice to make. Where I have choices in products, I choose to support those who support me. Good luck to you. Thank you. -Steve Troy I appreciate your thoughts on this controversy, but after review of public statements and video made by Mr. Monroe there is no way to support that he demonstrates "high integrity and honor" in any way. I will never spend another cent with Troy, and my sights and any other troy items will be removed and trashed, i wont even resell them. Very disappointing troy |

We used to move a bunch of yalls product in my shop. Since your decision on this matter we have discovered we can, quite effectively, live without your company.
Yall do make cool stuff but I cant in good conscience recommend anything from your company to anyone. |

feinstein is surely set to retire soon.
You could hire her for marketing.. unless you need more people to teach disarming explosives she can just give lectures on banning tannerite, reloading powder, gasoline and diesel to prevent ieds. |

Mr Troy
I don't understand what this guy brings to the table to forgive him for Ruby Ridge. free |
