Using a thread protector instead of brake/FH on your LaRue barrel? Which one ya got?

I bought one at the local gun show and found out it didn't really work. Turns out the threads don't go all the way to the shoulder on the barrel so the one I bought left about 1/8" gap.

Lock it down in a drill press and remove 1/8"-5/32" from the protector's threads with a 21/32" bit?

ETA: I assumed 7.62

You need to get one that has a relief where it comes into contact with the shoulder.  Larue leaves quite a bit of material near the shoulder.  They do not relieve the threads in that section.  It can cause issues with some direct mount muzzle devices that do not use a crush washer or shims.

Would a crush washer fill the gap?

Yes, it would but I'd prefer not to use one.
