Please bear with me on this because although I've owned an ar for a couple years now, I've not studied the ar15 specific forums on this site, and I am not an expert on these rifles. Having read through quite a few of the threads where Windham Weaponry has been mentioned, I've seen more often than not the comparison of these new rifles being compared to the old Bushmasters and being overpriced along with claims of qc problems.
Please note that I am not in any way trying to create any flak here, I am solely interested in clearing up some things because I believe that the non specific summaries of problems of the past being brought up and in some cases, being implied that these problems will be a continuation, just under a new name.
I know that there are those that believe the pony is the only brand to buy, and that is fine, but, I believe it is a disservice to this company as well as others, and to any new potential buyers to sling misinformation based on limited exposure to only one brand of rifle while slinging misinformation about the others.
It's kind of like restaurants, you will hear about bad ones more often than good ones.
In any case, I don't know a lot about the "old Bushmaster" rifles. I also don't know a lot about the new Bushmaster rifles other than what I have seen of them personally. If these are anything like the Remington made Marlins, then I'd be leery of buying one.
And a couple questions.
Strictly between the "old" Bushamsters and these new Windhams, what is different and better?
What is Windham doing now as far as customer service and production that is different from before and is better than others now?
That is all I can think of at the moment that should cover my interests.

ETA: What are the "dimples" in the lower receiver next to the threaded hole for the grip screw for?
