Went to the range this morning, tried out a few different types of ammo, FGGM 308 175gr FGMM 7.62 175, and Silver State Armory 175gr.
Was shooting at a slow pace, prone bipod supported. Here is the sequence of events when shooting the Silver State Armory ammo:
Fired 1 time
Can't manually cycle
Mortar Rifle to open bolt and inspect chamber
Case in chamber with no primer but protruding from the chamber by about 5mm
Close bolt on brass to try to extract
Bolt closes but I can not open
Mortar for about 30 min strait no luck
Take Rifle home and soak chamber in lube
Use rubber mallet on charging handle and finally get it open
While cleaning up I found a few other SSA cases with no primers.... Velocities on this stuff were only about 30-50FPS over the FGMM
Here are the pics. What do you think happened? And mainly, is the rifle safe to shoot and does it need to go to knights to be inspected?
I think the bulged base is from closing the bolt on the case the first time.
